Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree. -- Martin Luther
The majestic trees of my favorite place in Superior, Nebraska. Lincoln Park has a dog park and pond with fountain. We like to take our Dairy Queen here to picnic under the shade of a tree. The pond is full of great big catfish. Like scary big catfish. The burr oaks have leaves larger than my hand. And these gentle beauties tower above us as we walk the dogs.
The trees make me feel connected to the settlers and farmers who first worked the land. It amazes me I now enjoy the breezy whispers of trees planted some hundred years ago. I would like to tell them the joy they share by their simple act of planting. Maybe taking the time to look up and enjoy is thanks enough.
